German legend Thomas Muller revealed that he has silverware on his mind following his move to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps from boyhood club Bayern Munich.

The 35-year-old forward, who signed a contract with the Canadian club, is tied to the Whitecaps until the 2025 season, with an option to extend for a year.

“I was always a competitive guy during my whole life, and my love is to play, to play football,” the 35-year-old said.

“And my body feels, even in this stage of my career, too good to retire,” the World Cup-winner added.

“I know that a player with my career coming to Vancouver is creating a little bit of a hype,” Muller continued.

“And we want to stay on the hype train as long as possible,” he added.

“It’s a great time and a good time to be a Vancouver Whitecaps supporter,” he added.

“It’s not about winning titles in the past. It’s winning titles in the future. That’s what motivates me,” Muller revealed.

Müller joined Bayern Munich’s academy as a 10-year-old in 2000 and spent his entire career with the German champions, winning a record 13 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues, and the World Cup with Germany in 2014.

At Vancouver International Airport, fans cheered and waved flags as Müller walked through the sliding doors after clearing customs. He then joined fans at an airport restaurant to watch the Whitecaps face Canadian Premier League club Forge FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals.

Müller’s last game for Bayern was a quarterfinal loss to Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup in Atlanta, following a months-long farewell from the club. Bayern announced in April that it wouldn’t be extending his contract. Müller said he understood, “even if this did not reflect my personal wishes.”

In the following weeks, emotional scenes unfolded with teammates, club officials, and fans as Müller reached personal milestones — surpassing his 500th Bundesliga game and 750th game in total for Bayern — and secured another German title.

Müller, who played for the Bavarian giants for 25 years, won 13 Bundesliga titles with the German powerhouses and enjoyed success with the national team in an illustrious career.
