Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City grabbed a hard-earned 2–1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday — but the post-match images once again belonged to the City boss rather than the scoreline.

City were made to work at the City Ground before Rayan Cherki delivered. The summer signing set up Tijjani Reijnders for the opener after the break, then capped his display with a superb late winner after Omari Hutchinson had briefly hauled Forest level.

It was a gritty lunchtime victory, the kind Guardiola values as much as the spectacular ones.

At the final whistle, Guardiola turned toward the travelling City supporters, clapping and soaking in the moment. Then came the interruption.

A camera operator stepped directly into his path, prompting an instant reaction. Guardiola raised his arm in visible frustration and fixed the lens with a withering stare — an all-too-familiar scene.

Moments later, the confrontation took a lighter turn. Guardiola was seen again facing the camera, this time jokingly gesturing for the cameraman to move away, drawing laughs rather than gasps. Still, it underlined how little patience the Spaniard has for cameras intruding on his post-match rituals.

The incident inevitably revived memories of November, when Guardiola cut a furious figure after City’s 2–1 defeat to Newcastle. That night, he had a heated exchange with Bruno Guimarães and was also seen arguing with a cameraman — an episode that later drew a public apology.

“I apologise. I feel embarrassed and ashamed when I see it,” Guardiola admitted at the time. “I’m an emotional guy. After 1,000 games I’m not a perfect person. I make mistakes, but I always defend my team and my club.”

Saturday’s moment, though, felt more comic than combustible. And for Manchester City, the focus now shifts forward. They close out a mixed 2025 with a crucial away win and return to Premier League action on January 1, when they travel to face Sunderland.
