Ridhi Dogra, portraying Kavya Raisinggh in Kull, described the experience as “hugely refreshing.” She emphasized that Kavya is the first character in her career where she’s standing up for herself, rather than for others. “This is the first character in my career where I’m not fighting for anyone else, I’m standing up for myself. That was so refreshing for me,” she shared.
But beyond acting, Ridhi Dogra had a deeper conversation about how women are portrayed in Indian films, often relegated to secondary roles or stereotyped through item songs. “The kind of content being made reflects what society consumes,” she said. “If people start rejecting such narratives, they simply won’t be made anymore.”
Challenging traditional industry norms, she asserted that her competition isn’t with other women but with men. She elaborated on the additional challenges women face daily, stating, “A woman has to consider five more things than a man before even stepping out of the house.” She also mentioned that, “If we’re talking about gender parity in content, we must first look at what society believes about women.”
Reflecting on her career trajectory, she expressed admiration for trailblazing actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Madhuri Dixit. She acknowledged their contributions in paving the way for future generations, stating, “These women are proving that stereotypes don’t define them. They’ve opened the path for a zillion of us,” she said with admiration.
