Premier League strugglers Manchester United are set for another round of redundancies, which is expected to witness around 200 employees at the Mancunian fall prey to job cuts.

This is the second round of redundancies at the club, following up on the first round last year that saw around 250 employees laid off following the takeover of the club by INEOS boss and boyhood United fan Jim Ratcliffe.

Sources say that the club have started informing staff about the impending job cuts, and the news comes immediately after Man United’s defeat to fellow PL strugglers Tottenham in the final of the UEFA Europa League in Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim’s United languish in the 16th position in the English top-flight and missed out on their only opportunity to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for next year when they succumbed 1-0 to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham in the final of the second tier UEL on Thursday.

Portuguese head coach Amorim, who took over the helm of United following his successful stint at Sporting Lisbon, has come under immense scrutiny over the club’s showings this season as the Mancunian side have managed to claim just 39 points in 37 outings in the ongoing campaign with 10 wins, 9 stalemates and 18 defeats and are on track for their lowest finish to a season ever since the rebranding of the Premier League as we know it today.
