Actor Rukhsar Rehman is set to star opposite Annu Kapoor in the upcoming film Uttar Da Puttar, which is currently under production in Uttarakhand. Directed by Ravinder Siwach, the film is produced by Sandip Kapur under the banner Promodome Motion Pictures.

According to sources, Rukhsar plays the role of Ginni, a woman who falls in love with her professor, portrayed by Kapoor, who is 15 years her senior. Their relationship eventually leads to marriage, forming a key part of the film’s narrative. Uttar Da Puttar delves into themes rooted in Indian society, focusing on people’s belief in systems like Vastu, astrology, and numerology. It examines how such beliefs often come into conflict with notions of self-effort and hard work. The story aims to present a social commentary on the intersection of faith, superstition, and personal choice.
The film’s visual storytelling is being handled by cinematographer Udaysingh Mohite, known for his strong command of mood and composition.
Rukhsar Rehman has had a diverse career in Indian cinema and television. She made her film debut opposite Aditya Pancholi in Yaad Rakhegi Duniya, followed by Inteha Pyar Ki with Rishi Kapoor. Over the years, she has been part of critically and commercially successful films including PK, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Sarkar. She has also featured in television series such as Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Tumhari Paakhi and appeared in the web series The Night Manager. With Uttar Da Puttar, Rukhsar adds another layered role to her repertoire in a film that aims to spark conversation around modern-day beliefs and social conditioning.
