Approximately 28 lakh candidates are appearing for the SSC CGL exam. The exam was scheduled to be held in three shifts on September 12: the first from 9 am to 10 am, the second from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm, and the third from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. However, it was cancelled at many examination centres across Delhi, Gurugram and Jammu.

Before the first shift examination began in Gurugram, a notice was issued stating the SSC CGL exam had been cancelled. Similarly, the exam was postponed in Jammu. Candidates travelling from distant areas faced significant difficulties due to the sudden cancellation. Many reported spending a lot on travel and accommodation for an exam that did not take place. The examinations scheduled at MM Public School, Gurugram, and Bharti Vidya Niketan, Delhi, will now be held on September 24, 25, and 26, 2025.

SSC exams are repeatedly under scrutiny. Incidents of paper leaks and last-minute exam postponements waste the time and effort of countless candidates. Student organisations assert that if such issues persist, the credibility of SSC will be jeopardised. For candidates who prepare for months, these disruptions are not only academic obstacles but also mental and financial burdens. This time, the chaos in the exam has again questioned the efficiency of SSC.
Candidates appearing for SSC CGL 2025 have been sharing their experiences on social media since morning. At many locations, there were long queues at the entry gates, and at others, the exam did not start on time. Some centres faced technical faults with the login system. The exam was outright cancelled in Jammu and Gurugram, and a cancellation notice was issued at Bharti Vidya Niketan in Delhi. The situation remains unclear at other centres, causing confusion among candidates.

This isn’t the first time an SSC exam has been cancelled. Complaints of paper leaks, server failures, and poor centre management have surfaced in previous exams like CGL and CHSL. Despite repeated assurances of investigations by the commission, the situation has not improved. Similar controversies in the 2018 and 2021 exams led to candidates protesting on the streets. Candidates demand a fair and systematic examination process to ensure their hard work is justly evaluated.
