Shivani Jha, a resident of Mujauna village in Pusa block, Samastipur district, Bihar, has successfully passed the Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and has been selected for the position of Lieutenant in the Indian Army. After completing her training, she will serve as a lieutenant in the Indian Army.
She began her education in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, where she studied until the 12th grade. She then moved to Gwalior, where she earned a B.Tech degree in engineering. After completing her engineering, Jha worked as a software engineer in major multinational companies like Infosys and Checkmarx. Despite the allure of the corporate world, her lifelong dream was to join the Indian Army, a passion that ultimately led her to her current achievement.
Since childhood, Jha dreamt of wearing a uniform. To achieve this dream, she worked hard, continuously improved herself, and rigorously prepared for the CDS exam. Success in such a challenging exam requires mental, physical, and emotional resilience, and Shivani Jha excelled in all three aspects. Her support system, including her family, teachers, and friends, played a significant role in her success, with her mother, Pratibha Jha, being the most instrumental.
Shivani is the daughter of Sanjeev Kumar Jha and granddaughter of the late Ramkripal Jha. She credits her mother for her achievement, stating that her mother not only supported her through every difficulty but also shielded her from challenges, becoming her real strength. Shivani says, “My mother never taught me to give up.” Her mother’s struggle, faith in her daughter, and unwavering support laid the foundation for Jha to build her dreams.
Jha’s success is not just a personal milestone; it is an inspiration for every daughter of Samastipur and Bihar who aspires to realise her dreams. She has become a role model for the youth, especially for girls who dream big despite limited resources.
