Tamannaah Bhatia has learned how to keep her emotions in check and block the noise on social media. “Judge toh log karenge. (People will always judge). That is 100 per cent. But how does that affect your life? You are living yours; they are living theirs. So, it is not like I am not aware of the judgment. I refuse to take it on,” the Stree 2 actor said in a conversation with fashion influencer Masoom Minawala.
“People can be extremely nasty. People say stuff about your character and life choices. I have come to believe that when someone comments about you, it’s a reflection of themselves because that’s how they view life. It’s not about us. It’s their problem. It’s not mine,” Bhatia added.
How does she cope? “I take some time off. I spend time with my friends,” she answered.
Being constantly in the public eye can lead to unwanted attention, both positive and negative. “Along with attention comes unnecessary judgment and invasion of personal space. When too much of your private life is exposed to media or public, it can lead to extreme stress, misinterpretations, and even security issues,” said Dr Santosh Bangar, senior consultant psychiatrist, Gleneagles Hospitals Parel Mumbai.
Emotional support can be valuable. Dr Bangar said stress management techniques such as yoga or breathing exercises could help calm your mind in panic situations. Having a balanced approach is crucial, too. “This can allow individuals to enjoy their social presence and popularity while keeping important aspects of their lives safe from unwanted opinions and media pressure,” said Dr Bangar.
