With its recent facelift, the Altroz has gained lots of styling updates, feature additions, and a mostly familiar set of powertrains.
First launched in 2020, the Tata Altroz has been a popular contender in the premium hatchback segment. Over the years, though, the Altroz’s key rivals received major updates and facelifts, while the Tata hatchback fell behind. In response, Tata launched the Altroz facelift in May, bringing a slew of design tweaks and new features. Below, you’ll find every frequently asked question about the updated Altroz with detailed answers.
What is the Tata Altroz price in India?
Starts at Rs 6.89 lakh

The facelifted Altroz is priced at Rs 6.89 lakh for the base model, extending all the way up to Rs 11.49 lakh for the top-spec trim. However, it’s worth noting that these prices are introductory, and will increase in the near future. The Altroz on-road price in India falls in the Rs 7.80-14 lakh range, depending on the chosen variant and city of registration.
Which Tata Altroz variants are available in India?
Seven variants on offer

The Altroz facelift comes in seven core trim levels: Smart, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ S. Every Altroz trim can be had with a petrol engine, and barring the base Smart model, buyers can opt for an automatic gearbox with the petrol variants too. The CNG powertrain is available for all trims save for the top-spec Accomplished+ S, while the diesel engine is offered only in the Altroz’s Pure, Creative S, and Accomplished S trim levels.
Which engine options does the Tata Altroz get?
Pre-Altroz Racer’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine missing on newer model

While the new Altroz features comprehensive styling revisions, Tata has left the mechanicals largely unchanged. Much like the prior Altroz, the facelifted version gets three main engine options: an 88hp, 115Nm, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol unit; a 90hp, 200Nm, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel mill; and a 74hp, 1.2-litre petrol-CNG powertrain. However, the Altroz Racer’s 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor has not been carried over to the facelifted model.
As far as gearbox options go, the petrol Altroz can be specced with a 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT, or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel and CNG variants of the Altroz are solely available with the 5-speed manual gearbox for now. However, Tata is set to add an AMT option for the Altroz CNG, as we exclusively reported earlier.
What are the Tata Altroz diesel rivals?
Sole diesel hatchback available in India right now

The Altroz is unique in that it’s the only diesel-powered hatchback currently on sale in India, and therefore has no rivals in this regard. However, the CNG-powered Altroz variants compete with those of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza, while in terms of petrol offerings, the Hyundai i20 joins the list of the Tata’s hatchback’s rivals.

In addition to the sharper styling, the Altroz facelift comes with some extra features over the prior model, including a new two-spoke steering wheel, revised HVAC controls, and a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster. Elsewhere, features like a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, single-pane sunroof, 360-degree camera, 4-speaker sound system, connected car tech, 65W USB Type-C charging ports, 90-degree opening doors, ambient lighting, and more have been carried forward from the pre-facelift Altroz.
What are the Tata Altroz safety features?
5-star Global NCAP crash safety score

The pre-facelift Altroz scored a 5-star Global NCAP rating back in 2020, and since the newer model features no architectural changes, we expect it to be just as safe. Tata has also included standard safety kit like 6 airbags, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and 3-point seat belts for all seats, with higher Altroz trim levels additionally offering a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), anti-glare IRVM, blind spot monitor, and SOS calling functionality.
All prices ex-showroom, India.
