When it comes to battling life-threatening illnesses like stage 4 lung cancer, a holistic and integrative approach can sometimes work wonders, complementing traditional medical treatments. 

Health coach Luke Coutinho recently shared a remarkable recovery story of a patient who embraced such an approach with unwavering faith, determination, and a commitment to lifestyle changes. “A 40-year-old woman went from stage 4 cancer to being in remission in 90 days,” he mentioned in an Instagram post. He continued to add that the woman, a corporate employee, was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lungs. When she came to us, she was on: chemotherapy.”

As a result of the treatment, she experienced several side effects ranging from bloating to severe rashes on her face. “Only after 3 months of the (integrative) plan, the lung lesion reduced to 1/3rd of its size and the rest are just non-active residual lesions, which will eventually dissolve,” he wrote.

Visualisation: Guided imagery and visualisation techniques can foster a positive mindset, aiding in pain management and stress reduction. Studies in Psycho-Oncology reveal that visualization can lower perceived stress and improve the overall quality of life in cancer patients.

Consistent Exercise: Exercise enhances circulation, boosts immune response, and reduces fatigue — a common side effect of cancer treatment. Moderate physical activity is often recommended during treatment to maintain physical strength and emotional well-being.

Dr Hiremath states that post-remission is a critical phase where regular medical follow-ups, maintaining healthy lifestyle habits, seeking psychological support, and gradually resuming daily activities are essential to prevent relapse and ensure overall well-being. Practices like yoga, mindfulness, and long-term lifestyle changes can help build resilience, reduce inflammation, and support immune health.
