Three MBBS students drown in Wainganga river | Nagpur News

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, three first-year MBBS students from a medical college in Gadchiroli drowned in the Wainganga River near the Chandrapur-Gadchiroli border on Saturday evening.According to police, a group of eight students went to the river to bathe during a holiday.One of them is believed to have misjudged the water’s depth and started to drown. In a desperate attempt to save him, two others jumped in but were also swept away by the strong current.The deceased have been identified as Gopal Ganesh Sakhare from Buldhana, Parth Balasaheb Jadhav from Shirdi, and Swapnil Uddhavsinh Shire from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. All three were pursuing their first year of MBBS at a govt medical college in Gadchiroli.Soon after receiving the alert, a team from Saoli police station, led by Inspector Pradeep Pullarwar, rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. However, due to poor visibility after sunset, the efforts were suspended late in the evening.Police officials informed that a fresh search operation would resume on Sunday morning with the help of rescue teams and local divers.
