The TNPSC held the Group 4 examination on July 12 to fill vacant Group 4 positions in Tamil Nadu government departments. A total of 3,935 posts will be filled across various categories, including Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant, and Typist. The results are expected to be out soon.
The Group 4 examination is a single-stage test, with appointments based on the marks obtained. Consequently, candidates are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the results. To check the results, candidates need to visit tnpsc.gov.in, click on the Group 4 result link, enter their registration number and date of birth, and then download the scorecard for future use.
The paper was divided into three parts: Part A had 100 questions from the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test, Part B had 75 questions from General Studies, and Part C included 25 questions from Aptitude and Mental Ability. The exam carried a total of 300 marks. While Part A was held in Tamil, Parts B and C were available in both English and Tamil.
Since 2013, the Public Service Commission has conducted Group 4 examinations seven times. Excluding the 2023 examination, results for three exams were released within five months, while the other three were released within three months.
It has been over a year since the results of the 2023 Group 4 examination to select 7,301 candidates were announced, causing considerable controversy. In response, the results for the 2024 examination to select 8,932 candidates were released within three months.
This year’s Group 4 examination is considered one of the toughest ever. Candidates and examination instructors reported that more than half of the 100 questions in the Tamil subject were very complex and not part of the syllabus. Approximately 13.89 lakh candidates applied, with 11.48 lakh actually sitting for the exam, resulting in about 287 candidates competing for each post, and a selection rate of just under 0.35%. In other words, at least 3.5 out of 1,000 candidates will be selected.
With the assembly elections approaching in 2026, the selection commission is expected to release the results promptly to avoid additional stress for candidates and political repercussions. Previously, TNPSC Chairman S.K. Prabhakar assured that the exams are conducted with accountability and transparency, and results would be published within three months.
