Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms he will leave Liverpool at season’s end, calling it the ‘hardest decision’ of his life.

England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed that he will leave childhood club Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the ongoing season, terming it as the ‘hardest decision’ of his life.
Alexander-Arnold, who helped Liverpool win the Premier League last week, has been linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold will bring his 20-year-long association with Liverpool to an end, having decided to depart Anfield once his deal ceases on June 30 this year.

“I think first and foremost, I want to say it’s not an easy decision, and there’s a lot of thought and feeling that has gone into it. I’ve been here 20 years now, loved every single minute of it, achieved all my dreams and achieved everything I’ve ever wanted to here,” Alexander-Arnold was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Liverpool.
“Giving everything day in, day out for 20 years, I’ve got to a point now where I feel like I need a new change, a new challenge for me as a player and as a person. And I think now is the right time for me to do that,” Alexander-Arnold added.
Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool’s Academy at just six years of age and progressed through the ranks at youth level before making his senior debut nine years ago.
Alexander-Arnold has gone on to make 352 appearances for Liverpool to date, scoring 23 goals and lifting eight big titles, including this season’s Premier League triumph last week.
“There’s a lot I would like to say. The main thing is a massive thank you. You guys have been there from the start with me, you guys have supported me and been there,” Alexander-Arnold told the club’s supporters.
“I’ve felt the support, the love, everything that you guys have done has never been unnoticed by me, I’ve loved every single minute of it. I hope they have felt that it has been reciprocated and that I’ve given everything I could to the club,” Alexander-Arnold added.
The 26-year-old began this season as one of the three key Liverpool players out of contract this summer, and while the team extended Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s deals by two years, they will lose Alexander-Arnold for no fee.
