Uttar Pradesh unveils textile policies at Gartex Texprocess India 2025


The government of Uttar Pradesh has debuted new textile policies at Gartex Texprocess India 2025 as part of its push to become a $1 trillion economy and attract global investment. Invest UP and the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles are representing the state at the trade event, highlighting new opportunities in the textile and garment sectors.

Speaking during the inaugural session, Shashank Chaudhary, ACEO of Invest UP, outlined the state’s economic transformation and strategic focus on infrastructure, skilled labour, and innovation. “Uttar Pradesh, home to a rich textile heritage from Banarasi weaves to Lucknow’s chikankari, is now combining tradition with modernity,” said Chaudhary, the UP government announced in a press release. “The upcoming PM Mitra mega textile park in Lucknow and a range of incentives under the U.P. Textile and Garmenting Policy– 2022 make UP a promising hub for textile manufacturing.”

The opening was attended by key industry stakeholders, including Maharashtra’s minister of textiles, Sanjay Savkare. Presentations by K.P. Verma of the Handloom & Textiles Department and Anuruddha Kshatriya of Invest UP outlined policy incentives and business facilitation measures available to investors.

Officials from Uttar Pradesh will continue engaging with businesses throughout the three-day trade show, reinforcing the state’s emphasis on ease of doing business and sustainable industrial growth. The industry event runs from May 22 to May 24 in Mumbai.
