Pradhan emphasised that the ‘Drug-Free Campus Campaign’ at DU is more than just a campaign; it is a strong collective commitment toward the youth, society, and the nation.

The Vice President also launched an e-pledge platform – pledge.du.ac.in.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Drug-Free Campus Campaign at the University of Delhi on Tuesday, underscoring the need for ongoing and collective efforts to protect the youth from substance abuse. The Drug-Free Campus Campaign aims to promote awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and mobilise students towards creating a safe and substance-free academic environment.

The Vice President also launched an e-pledge platform – pledge.du.ac.in – and a mobile application under the Nasha Mukt Parisar Abhiyaan, urging students from universities nationwide to actively participate and pledge for a drug-free campus. He called on Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan to integrate the Drug-Free Campus Campaign into all Central Higher Educational Institutions.

The event was attended by Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood, University of Delhi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, senior officials, faculty members, and students.

In his address, Pradhan stressed that this initiative is more than just a campaign; it represents a strong collective commitment to the youth, society, and the nation. He noted that the University of Delhi is not only an academic institution but also a hub for idea generation and value creation. By launching this campaign, the university has taken a significant step toward addressing a serious challenge faced by the youth. He emphasised that drug abuse poses a severe threat not only to health but also to the potential of young people and the nation’s ability to develop productive citizens. He expressed confidence that the university’s initiative would become a key pillar of the nationwide movement against drug abuse.

The Minister further stated that the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, as envisioned by the Prime Minister, can only be achieved when the youth are healthy, aware, self-reliant, and purpose-driven.

He congratulated the University of Delhi for this visionary and inspiring initiative and urged students to actively engage in the campaign, transform it into a people’s movement, and lead the way in building a drug-free, healthy, and empowered India.
