Sometimes, love stories unfold like a classic Bollywood romance—timeless, heartfelt, and with just the right amount of sparkle. Actor Keerthy Suresh recently tied the knot with her longtime partner, Antony Thattil, in an intimate ceremony in Goa on December 20. After 15 years together, the couple celebrated their love in a setting straight out of a dream.
But what truly captured the hearts of fans wasn’t just the romance of it all—it was Keerthy’s bridal look. Dressed in a stunning red sari that was equal parts traditional and contemporary, Keerthy gave us a glimpse of the beautiful story behind her wedding attire in a recent interview with Galatta India.
In her interview, Keerthy revealed that her wedding sari wasn’t just any sari—it was her mother’s wedding sari, lovingly refurbished by renowned designer Anita Dongre. “It’s my mom’s wedding sari, and I refurbished it. Anita Dongre did it, and she’s done it beautifully,” she shared, adding that the decision to wear it came serendipitously.
Initially, Keerthy had planned to wear a sari gifted by the groom’s family. But with the need for an additional outfit, her mother suggested revisiting her own wedding wardrobe. “Actually, no. This came towards the very end. I was supposed to wear a sari in the beginning, but it was meant to come from the groom’s side. So, I was supposed to change into that later. So I needed two saris and my mom told me to look for something to wear in the beginning, and I saw this sari of hers. I immediately asked her if I could wear it,” Keerthy explained.
Despite the sari’s age, Keerthy didn’t hesitate to wear it. She beautifully encapsulated the sentiment behind her choice: “It’s not about how old it is or what quality it is—it’s yours, and you wore it,” Keerthy also expressed her admiration for her mother, who had preserved the sari so impeccably over the decades.
The vintage sari, a rich red adorned with silver floral motifs and shimmering zari embroidery, was modernised with Dongre’s signature touch. The matching red blouse was custom-made to complement the intricate details of the sari.
Keerthy completed her bridal ensemble with carefully chosen accessories: a diamond necklace, matching earrings, a maang tikka, and a stack of multi-tone bangles. The result was a look that radiated elegance and individuality, perfectly balancing tradition and modern flair.
With her choice, we’re reminded that sometimes the most beautiful things in life are the ones that carry meaning, memory, and a touch of personal magic.
