PSG boss Luis Enrique acknowledged that his team gifted Bayern Munich opportunities in their 2-1 Champions League defeat on Tuesday but emphasized he was not making excuses despite the rising injuries within the squad of the defending champions.

PSG struggled in the first half, conceding two goals to Luis Diaz before the Colombian winger was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi, who had to be substituted before halftime, following Ousmane Dembele into the dressing room.

“We’ll have to wait until tomorrow after the tests,” Luis Enrique said at a press conference.

“Ousmane’s injury is unrelated to his previous one. Football is a contact sport. It’s unfortunate and complicated for the player, but these incidents happen, as it did to Bayern’s Jamal Musiala against PSG at the Club World Cup last July.”

PSG have been plagued by injuries this season, with Dembele, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz all sidelined.

While Luis Enrique admitted to needing better squad management, he did not make excuses.

“In the first half, they were superior. They created more chances, and we made significant mistakes,” the Spaniard said.

“When you make such errors against players of this calibre, it’s normal to lose the match — we could have conceded more goals.”

PSG improved after the break but couldn’t turn their long spells of possession into goals. “We performed well in the second half and could have drawn the game,” Luis Enrique noted.

Despite the setback, the coach remained calm.

“I can’t recall a single match this season with the full team fit,” he remarked.

“We have to manage that. I’m not seeking excuses — it’s our responsibility to improve. I’m calm and confident we’ll recover our players and our form. We’ve still played some excellent matches.”

The result left Bayern at the top of the 36-team Champions League table with a maximum of 12 points, while PSG sits third, three points behind.
