An emotional moment from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr has caught the attention of many online after Shikha Gautam secured the 113th rank in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. A video that shows her grandfather breaking down in tears while talking about her success has been widely shared on social media.

Shikha Gautam, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar Bhud locality in Bulandshahr, secured the 113th rank in the prestigious UPSC examination. According to a report in Jagran, she achieved the feat in her second attempt.

Shikha Gautam Clears UPSC In Her Second Attempt

As per the report, her father, Premchand, works as a fourth-grade employee at Gandhi Kanya Inter College in Siyana. He said he always prioritised the education of his children and encouraged them to pursue their goals.

According to him, his children have always worked hard and never disappointed him. Shikha’s achievement, he said, is a dream come true for the family and a moment of great happiness.

Sikha Singh’s Grandfather Gets Emotional

An emotional video shared by News24 journalist Shahnawaz has further brought attention to Shikha’s story. The clip shows her grandfather breaking into tears after speaking about his granddaughter’s achievement. He had reportedly also worked as a peon.

The clip drew several emotional reactions from viewers.

One user commented, “The victory of hard work is just like this… Tears in Grandpa’s eyes and the officer’s star on his granddaughter’s shoulders—it’s a matter of pride. With their hard work and dedication, they not only achieved success for themselves but also became an example for others. If there’s a desire for something in your heart and you devote day and night to attaining it, success will surely come. Heartiest congratulations to sister Shikha Singh.”

Another wrote, “Seeing such people gives us a bit of courage too!”

Shikha Gautam’s Academic Journey

Shikha completed her schooling through the Uttar Pradesh Board. She passed her high school examination in 2011 from Chaudhary Veerpal Singh Inter College in Bada village, Jagran reported.

In 2013, she completed her intermediate studies from Gandhi Bal Niketan Kanya Inter College. Later, in 2016, she graduated with a BSc degree from IP College.

She continued her academic journey and completed her Basic Training Certificate (BTC) course from the same college in 2018.

After that, Shikha moved to Mukherjee Nagar in Delhi to prepare for the civil services examination. Although she did not succeed in her first attempt, she continued her preparation with determination and eventually cleared the exam in her second attempt.

Shikha Singh’s Family Background

Shikha comes from a family of five siblings and is the third among four sisters. Her elder sister Jyoti works as a teacher at an upper primary school in Bahraich, while another sister, Neha, is also a teacher in Bihar. Her younger sister Manisha is currently preparing for the UPSC examination while her brother Monu works as a wellness coach. Their mother, Devi, is a homemaker.

Shikha told the outlet that she studied regularly for around 16 hours a day. She also encouraged young aspirants to continue working hard with courage and determination. He told them that consistent effort eventually leads to success.
