Cristiano Ronaldo’s wait for silverware at Al Nassr continues after another painful final defeat, extending his official club trophy drought to five years.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Saudi Arabia to dominate. Instead, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner keeps finding new ways to suffer.
Al Nassr’s latest heartbreak came in the AFC Champions League Two final, Asia’s equivalent of the Europa League, where the Saudi giants slumped to a painful 1-0 defeat against Gamba Osaka.
And for Ronaldo, the loss only deepened an increasingly bizarre drought.

Ronaldo’s Trophy Wait Drags On
By failing to lift the AFC Champions League Two trophy, Ronaldo’s official club title drought has now stretched to five years.
The last recognised club competition he won came back in 2021 with Juventus FC, when the Italian giants defeated Atalanta 2-1 in the Coppa Italia final.
Since joining Al Nassr FC in January 2023, Ronaldo has now missed out on a staggering 14 official trophies.
That includes three Saudi Pro League titles, four King’s Cups, four Saudi Super Cups and three continental competitions.
Even more painfully, Ronaldo has now finished runner-up in five finals during his time in Saudi Arabia.
Those defeats include the Arab Club Cup, the King’s Cup, two Saudi Super Cups and now the AFC Champions League Two final.

The One Trophy That Doesn’t Count
Technically, Ronaldo has lifted silverware with Al Nassr.
He captained the club to victory in the Arab Club Champions Cup, scoring twice against rivals Al Hilal SFC in the final.
But there’s a catch.
The tournament is not officially recognised by FIFA or the Asian Football Confederation, meaning it does not count toward Ronaldo’s official career honours.
One Last Chance To End The Misery
What makes the latest defeat even tougher is how close Al Nassr recently came to ending the drought.
Just last week, Ronaldo looked set to finally win the Saudi Pro League before goalkeeper Bento’s catastrophic stoppage-time error handed Al Hilal a dramatic lifeline in the title race.
Now, the equation is simple: Al Nassr must avoid defeat against Damac FC on the final day of the season to keep their hopes alive, while also relying on Al Hilal slipping up.
