The 3rd Lisbon Contemporary Jewellery Biennial, themed ‘Coexistências/Coexistences,’ will take place from September 19 to 27 at venues across the Portuguese capital. The official opening is on September 17, followed by a programme featuring exhibitions, masterclasses, conferences, and gatherings dedicated to contemporary jewellery. Highlights include the masterclasses organised by Ar.Co- Centre for Art and Visual Communication, from September 19 to 23, and the international symposium on September 25 and 26 at MUDE- Museum of Design.

This year’s edition will be centred on MUDE and the Convento dos Cardaes, bringing together Portuguese and international artists, curators, researchers, and professionals to reflect on the relationships between humankind and ecology, in line with its guiding theme, ‘Coexistences,’ according to the organisers.
Dedicated to art and contemporary jewellery, the biennial offers a multidisciplinary programme comprising exhibitions, installations, conferences, workshops, and other initiatives aimed at both the general public and sector professionals.
The event serves as a platform for artists, designers, jewellers, researchers, and cultural institutions to come together, promoting creation, innovation, and reflection on jewellery as an artistic and cultural expression, the website notes.

The programme brings together some of the most esteemed names in international contemporary jewellery, including David Bielander, Lin Cheung, Ruudt Peters, Sofia Björkman, Tamia Dellinger, Ted Noten, and Typhaine Le Monnier. Leading Portuguese artists and creators will also be taking part, such as Catarina Silva, Joana Vasconcelos, Manuela Sousa, Rui Silva, and Tereza Seabra, among others.
By fostering dialogue between contemporary jewellery, heritage, design, and the visual arts, the biennial aims to strengthen the international profile of creators and to affirm contemporary jewellery as one of the most dynamic fields within the cultural and creative industries, the organisers conclude.
