Anna began lobbying for a nationwide Mother’s Day celebration in the early 1900s, following her efforts to be rewarded in 1914 when Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, issued a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is a day to express gratitude to mothers and maternal figures with gifts, cards, and flowers, as well as a time for families to gather and celebrate the occasion.
