India’s labour force participation rate in current weekly status (CWS) among persons aged 15 and above was 55.6 per cent during April, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey.

LFPR in CWS for males aged 15 and above in rural and urban areas were respectively 79 per cent and 75.3 per cent during the month, an NSO release said.
LFPR among females aged 15 and above for rural areas was 38.2 per cent during the month.
Worker population ratio (WPR) in CWS in rural areas among persons aged 15 and above was 55.4 per cent. WPR in urban areas among persons of the same age group was 47.4 per cent with the overall WPR at the country level observed as 52.8 per cent during April.
WPR for females aged 15 and above for rural and urban areas were respectively 36.8 per cent and 23.5 per cent in April and the overall female WPR of the same age group at the country level was 32.5 per cent.
The unemployment rate in CWS among persons aged 15 and above was 5.1 per cent in April. This rate for males was 5.2 per cent compared to the female rate of 5 per cent at the national level.
Meanwhile, the NSO announced in another press release that key labour force indicators from PLFS at the all-India level will now be released on a monthly basis and the PLFS quarterly results will now be brought out for rural, urban and rural and urban areas in a combined manner.
