Kia Carens Clavis price vs Ertiga, Rumion and XL6

We explore how the recently launched Kia Clavis MPV stacks up in price against its Japanese rivals.

Kia India has revealed the variant-wise prices for its Carens Clavis, ranging from Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 21.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a more premium alternative to the Kia Carens, much like how the Maruti XL6 sits above the Ertiga, the new Clavis targets buyers looking for a more upmarket MPV. Here is how the Kia Clavis compares on price with its key rivals, including the aforementioned Marutis, and the Toyota Rumion.

Kia Carens Clavis vs rivals: price details

Ertiga is the most affordable petrol and CNG MPV here

At Rs 8.96 lakh, the Maruti Ertiga offers the most affordable petrol variant, followed by the Toyota Rumion at Rs 10.54 lakh. Next are the Kia siblings – the regular Carens now starts at Rs 11.41 lakh, just below the base Clavis at Rs 11.50 lakh, while the Maruti XL6 begins at a higher Rs 11.83 lakh price. For top-end prices, the Ertiga is the most economical at Rs 13.25 lakh, while the Clavis is the priciest at Rs 21.50 lakh due to its wider powertrain range.

Those looking for a fuel-efficient budget CNG MPV, the Ertiga is the most affordable on this list at Rs 11 lakh. But if good performance and quick gear shifts are preferred, consider the turbo-petrol Clavis DCT range, which starts at Rs 16.90 lakh.

XL6 is the least-expensive 6-seater MPV

Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion offer 7 seats as standard and are the most budget-friendly choices for larger families. For those seeking a bigger 7-seater, the Kia Carens is still a great option, though it costs a bit more. The Maruti XL6, only available as a 6-seater with captain seats, is priced lower than the Carens Clavis’ 6-seat version, but the latest MPV stands out by offering an additional 7-seat configuration for more versatility.

The Kia Clavis offers the widest range of 1.5-litre engines, and, with the Carens, is the only MPV here with a diesel; both Kias skip CNG. The Carens Clavis leads in output with up to 160hp and 253Nm, well above the 103hp and sub-140Nm from Maruti and Toyota MPVs. Four transmission options are also the most with the 2025 Clavis, compared to just two offered with its Japanese rivals. That said, the Japanese trio’s CNG variants offer up to 26.32km/kg ARAI mileage, well above the Clavis’ best 19.54kpl (1.5-litre diesel with 6MT).
