US Upland & Pima cotton shipments outpace new deals this week

Net sales of upland cotton in the United States for the 2024–25 season totalled 109,800 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg (500 pounds), during the week ending May 29, 2025. This represents an increase of 8 per cent from the previous week and 2 per cent from the prior four-week average. Export shipments of Upland cotton witnessed a strong rise during the week.

According to the USDA weekly export sales report, the increases were primarily for Bangladesh (34,200 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), Vietnam (24,700 RB, including 2,400 RB switched from China, 500 RB from Malaysia, 300 RB from South Korea, and decreases of 100 RB), India (24,500 RB), Pakistan (14,700 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), and Ecuador (6,400 RB). These were offset by reductions for China (2,400 RB), Malaysia (500 RB), South Korea (300 RB), and Japan (200 RB).

US net sales of Upland cotton rose 8 per cent week-on-week to 109,800 RB for the 2024–25 season, with notable demand from Bangladesh, Vietnam, and India.
Export shipments surged 15 per cent to 316,100 RB, mainly to Turkiye and Vietnam.
Pima cotton sales declined to 6,700 RB, though shipments increased 66 per cent.
Strong export activity reflects sustained global demand.

Net sales of 39,000 RB for the 2025–26 season were primarily for Vietnam (17,900 RB), Mexico (10,200 RB), South Korea (4,400 RB), Indonesia (3,500 RB), and Japan (2,100 RB).

Cotton export shipments from the US totalled 316,100 RB, up 15 per cent from the previous week and 1 per cent from the prior four-week average. Actual export shipments reaffirmed strong demand in the global market. The main destinations were Turkiye (98,300 RB), Vietnam (87,400 RB), Pakistan (48,300 RB), Bangladesh (13,700 RB), and Mexico (10,900 RB).

Net sales of Pima cotton totalled 6,700 RB for the 2024–25 season, down noticeably from the previous week and 33 per cent from the prior four-week average. Increases were primarily for India (7,500 RB) and Indonesia (200 RB), offset by reductions for Peru (1,000 RB). Total net sales of Pima cotton for the 2025–26 season were 1,000 RB, all for Peru.

Export shipments of Pima cotton reached 11,100 RB, up 66 per cent from the previous week and 16 per cent from the prior four-week average. The main destinations were Vietnam (5,400 RB), India (3,300 RB), Peru (900 RB), Pakistan (900 RB), and Bangladesh (400 RB).
