The GSX-8R is powered by a 776cc parallel-twin engine that puts out 83hp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a bi-directional quickshifter. It also features a ride-by-wire throttle, three levels of traction control, dual-channel ABS, and three riding modes. Under the skin, the GSX-8R gets a steel frame suspended by a USD fork and monoshock from Showa, and braking is handled by dual front discs and a single rear disc. It rides on 17-inch wheels with Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tyres.

At Rs 9.25 lakh, the GSX-8R is positioned as a more comfort-focused alternative to aggressive supersports in the segment. Its closest rivals are the Triumph Daytona 660, Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX4R and Ninja 650, and the Aprilia RS 660.
