The new-gen ‘G90’ BMW M5 marries a 585hp, 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with a plug-in hybrid setup, resulting in a combined output of 727hp and a whopping 1,000Nm. However, the hybrid powertrain has resulted in a weight increase of over 450kg compared to the previous-gen M5. This means the G90 M5’s claimed 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds is 0.1sec slower than the older model, while the 250kph top speed (305kph with optional M Driver’s Pack) is exactly the same between the two.
