Porsche has officially launched the Cayenne Electric SUV, and in Turbo guise with 1,156hp is now the most powerful production Porsche ever made. The carmaker has also opened bookings for the SUV, with deliveries expected to start in the second half of 2026. In this article, we put the Cayenne Electric against its rivals like the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and the Lotus Electre.

In terms of dimensions, while the Porsche, BMW, and Audi come under 5 metres, the Lotus and the Mercedes exceed the 5 metre length barrier, with the Mercedes being the longest in terms of length and wheelbase. The Cayenne Electric gets the biggest boot (with all rows up) and frunk space at 781 litres and 90 litres respectively, while the iX and the EQS SUV do not come with a frunk. Meanwhile the Audi Q8 e-tron gets the highest ground clearance at 228mm. Also, the EQS SUV is the heaviest, tipping the scales at over 2.8 tonnes.

All the SUVs here come with a dual-motor AWD setup, but it's the Porsche Cayenne Electric with the most powerful power output, with 1,156hp and 1,150Nm of torque in the Turbo trim, while it gets 408hp in standard guise, similar to the Audi Q8 e-tron 55, but the Cayenne gets more torque. Following close is the Lotus Electre which produces 925hp in the ‘R’ trim, while its standard and ‘S’ versions produce 603hp. The Mercedes EQS SUV and the BMW iX produce also produce powerful outputs of 540hp and 523hp, respectively. Audi Q8 e-tron in the 50’ guise is the least powerful here, producing 340hp and 664Nm of torque.
Unsurprisingly, the Cayenne Electric does a 0-100kph sprint in a claimed 2.5 seconds, while the standard version does it in 4.8 seconds. The Lotus Electre also posts a sub-3-second time, while in standard guise is 0.3 seconds faster than the standard Cayenne Electric. On the other hand, the EQS SUV and the iX do it in 4.7 and 4.6 seconds, respectively, while the Audi Q8 e-tron does it in 5.6 seconds.
When it comes to the e-SUV’s claimed ranges, the Mercedes EQS gets the hiighest claimed range at above 800km, followed by the Cayenne Electric at 642km. The Lotus Electre and the Audi Q8 e-tron get impressive claimed ranges of 600km and 582km, respectively, while their other trims come with the lowest claimed ranges at around 490km.

When it comes to charging, the Cayenne Electric can charge at speeds of up to 400kW and goes from 0-80 percent in 16 minutes, while the Electre does it in 20 minutes with charging speeds up to 350kW. Mercedes, BMW and Audi come with support for charging speeds up to 200kW, 195kW and 175kW respectively, while charging their batteries from 10-80 percent within 35 minutes. Interestingly, all SUVs except the Porsche Cayenne support AC charging speeds of 22kWh, while the Cayenne Electric does it at 11kW. The Cayenne Electric uniquely gets inductive charging, which uses a floor plate to wirelessly charge the SUV at home charging speeds.

Porsche introdcued the Cayenne Electric as a flagship EV counterpart to the ICE-powered Cayenne SUV. The Cayenne Electric not only categorises as a premium luxury e-SUV, but also competes with the likes of high performance e-SUVs. When it comes to pricing, the standard Cayenne Electric starts from Rs 1.76 crore (ex-showroom) and the Turbo trim is priced from Rs 2.26 crore (ex-showroom). The Lotus Electre is the most expensive in this comparison, while the Mercedes Benz EQS and the Audi Q8 e-tron are more affordable in this list.
