Tamil Nadu Holiday On November 24, 2025: Torrential rain has brought several districts to a standstill, prompting sudden school and college closures

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the low-pressure area which developed over the South Andaman Sea on November 23, Sunday, has now intensified into a deep depression and continues to prevail in the same region.

The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and develop into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal on November 25. Forecasters indicate that it may further intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next 48 hours.

Continuous rainfall across the southern districts has led to the declaration of holidays for schools and colleges in Nellai and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu on November 24.

A holiday has also been declared for schools only in the following districts of Tamil Nadu: Madurai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Karur, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Trichy, Thiruvarur, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi and Thoothukudi.

Puducherry and Karaikal Announce School Closures: Both Puducherry and Karaikal have declared a holiday for schools and colleges on November 24 due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Selective Closures in Salem District: In Salem district, a holiday has been announced for schools only in the talukas of Athur, Thalaivasal, Kengavalli and Bethanaikkanpalayam.
