The CBSE Class 10 English Language and Literature paper was well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted, adhering to the NCERT curriculum and CBSE’s competency-based framework, claimed experts. It had a moderate difficulty level, starting with easy questions to build confidence and gradually moving to those requiring higher-order thinking and interpretation.

“The Reading section featured contemporary passages on internet reach in India and global food culture, assessing literal comprehension, inference, vocabulary in context, and data interpretation. The table-based question strengthened the analytical component, encouraging critical reading. Questions were clearly worded, making the section student-friendly yet conceptually sound,” Gitanjali, Subject matter expert, Seth M. R. Jaipuria schools said.

“The Literature section carried the highest cognitive load, with extract-based items testing tone and inference, and longer responses requiring thematic interpretation, character analysis, and value-based reasoning. This section effectively differentiated rote learning from conceptual understanding. Overall, the paper was fair, clear, and well-calibrated. With prudent time management, students could score well, especially in Reading and Grammar, while Literature demanded depth and precision,” Gitanjali added.

Rachana Takshak, HOD – English, DPS Sector 45 Gurugram, stated that the exam was clear, balanced, and overall student-friendly. Most students found the paper direct and manageable, though some variations were noted. The pattern of the Reading section differed slightly from the model issued by CBSE, Takshak added. In Writing Skills, a Factual Description of a Place was included, despite the syllabus specifying Person/Object. In Grammar, the jumbled sentence question contained two separate sentences without punctuation, making the structure unclear.

Ravisha Bhargava, Educator, Shiv Nadar School, Noida, mentioned that most students were happy with the paper. While the short-answer questions were slightly challenging, the overall paper was largely straightforward. Students found the resources shared beforehand very helpful. They were able to complete the paper on time, and many said that the writing tasks were easy to interpret, allowing them to present well-developed, qualitative, long answers.
