The sprawling investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has uncovered a dark symbiotic relationship between high-pressure medical coaching centres and organised paper-leak syndicates. According to exclusive details obtained from Rajasthan Police sources by CNN-News18, the leak was not a mere lapse in security but a calculated outcome of a “mafia-style” business model predominant in Sikar and its surrounding coaching hubs.
The Nashik-to-Sikar Pipeline
The journey of the compromised paper reads like a sophisticated logistical operation. Investigators have traced the leak back to a printing press in Nashik, Maharashtra. From there, the document travelled to Gurugram, before entering Rajasthan via Jamwa Ramgarh.
Once the paper reached Sikar, it was disseminated with industrial efficiency to Dehradun, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Kerala, and Uttarakhand. At the source in the Nashik press, the paper was reportedly “sold” for approximately Rs 30-40 lakh, with the proceeds split among a small core group of five to six individuals.
The ‘Guess Paper’ Front
To maintain a veneer of legitimacy, coaching institutes often disguise these leaked documents as “last-minute guess papers” or “exclusive practice sets”. Secondary sources reportedly sold these sets for Rs 5 lakh, with rates dropping further as the paper moved down the supply chain.
Local institutes, desperate to maintain high success rates and secure future enrolments, frequently purchase these “last-minute deals” to ensure their students outshine the competition. This creates an environment where the “sanctity” of the exam is secondary to the institute’s commercial survival.
An Economy Built on Pressure
The Rajasthan Police probe suggests that the leak is a mechanical necessity of the local economy. In hubs like Sikar, a massive financial ecosystem—spanning tiffin services, laundry, and real estate—relies entirely on the influx of medical aspirants.
Property prices in these regions have skyrocketed, with many investors from Delhi, Gujarat, and Rajasthan pouring capital into student housing. It is now common to find single owners controlling up to ten rental properties. This hyper-local economy exerts immense pressure on coaching centres to deliver results at any cost; if the “success rate” drops, the property prices and the auxiliary businesses built around them face a total collapse.
A Nationwide Crisis
The involvement of various encrypted platforms and the ‘Private Mafia’ WhatsApp group highlights that while Sikar is a primary distribution hub, the conspiracy is truly national. The CBI, which has now taken over the probe, is focusing on the money trail to see how deep the financial ties between “educational consultants” and printing press employees actually run.
With forensic tests pending on the digital devices of key suspects like Rakesh Mandawaria, the investigation is poised to reveal how a regional coaching pressure cooker turned into a national security breach for India’s medical education system.
