BYD India to hike car prices by up to 2 percent from July – Introduction

BYD India will hike prices of its cars by up to 2 percent from July 1, 2026. As a result, prices of electric vehicles like the Atto 3, eMax 7, Seal and Sealion 7 could increase by up to Rs 1.1 lakh, depending on the variant. “This price revision is [due to] foreign exchange fluctuations,” said Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business.

  1. Movement in forex rates prime driver of price revision
  2. Bookings made in May and June will benefit from current prices

Customers making bookings in May and June 2026 will be able to get the cars at the current rates, provided delivery is taken on or before July 31, 2026. Bookings made on or after July 1, 2026 will be subject to the revised pricing. This follows a price hike of up to 3 percent that took effect earlier this month. That increase was linked to the tense situation around the Strait of Hormuz.

BYD India was set up in March 2007, and it is headquartered in Chennai. Currently, it has two factories spread across more than 1.4 lakh square kilometres, having invested over 200 million dollars in the country. BYD now has 48 dealerships across 40 cities.
