Chosen from hundreds of global applicants, the finalists will present their collections at the competition’s Grand Final Fashion Show in Hong Kong this September, where they will demonstrate approaches to repurposing a range of waste materials, including factory surplus, discarded garments and furniture textiles.

The finalists include Jasmine Cheuk (Hong Kong) and Issac Tong (Hong Kong); Alexandra Burch (UK); Tal Zohar (Israel); Jon Liesenfeld (Germany); Holly Shih (UK/Taiwan); David Schuch (Austria); and Yi Ding (Chinese Mainland).

Founded in 2007, Redress is an Asia-based environmental NGO focused on reducing the fashion industry’s environmental impact through circular design education and innovation.

The Redress Design Award has become one of the fashion industry’s leading platforms for emerging sustainable designers, with alumni representing more than 40 regions worldwide.

Dr. Christina Dean, Founder and Chair, Redress and Judge, said: “Around the world, the legislative hammer is coming down on the polluting fashion industry. Despite the complexity, the fashion industry is screaming for circular design solutions. The Redress Design Award circular fashion designer finalists are the breed of the future.”

The finalists will compete for the competition’s top prize, which includes a tailored industry immersion trip to the UK. Ahead of the September final, Redress will also open public voting in August for its People’s Choice Award.
