Australia occupies the sixth spot, with an average annual salary of US$87,156.
Belgium is seventh on the list. Its average annual salary is US$86,773.
The United Kingdom ranks eighth, with an average annual salary of US$82,403.
The United Arab Emirates is ninth, with an average annual salary of US$82,076. It is the only Middle Eastern country included in this particular top 10.
Germany completes the list in tenth place, recording an average annual salary of US$81,534.
These figures represent average salaries and are not guaranteed wages for every worker. Rankings can also change depending on whether they measure gross or after-tax income, average or median salary, and salaries across all workers or only skilled professionals.
Cost of living is another important factor. Countries such as Switzerland and Luxembourg offer very high salaries but also have expensive housing and living costs.
Therefore, the country offering the highest average salary does not automatically provide the highest standard of living.
