India’s polyester, viscose largely stable amid slow demand, optimism



In Ludhiana market, polyester-cotton and recycled polyester yarn were traded stable amid slow demand and tight payment conditions. Annual Kanwar Yatra and upcoming Independence Day on August ** became major cause of disruption in transportation services. A trader from Ludhiana market told Fibre*Fashion, “The market is facing difficulties in getting raw material and sending finished goods in other states of the country. Hopefully, disruption will be over in next week and trading and production activities will pick up. Rains in Surat also disturbed supplies of polyester raw material in Ludhiana market. Except the temporary disruption, market sentiments remained better.”

In Ludhiana, ** count PC combed yarn (**/**) was traded at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (GST inclusive); ** count PC carded yarn (**/**) at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (GST inclusive); ** recycled polyester yarn at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (GST extra); ** count virgin polyester spun at &#****;****** (~$*.***.**) per kg (GST inclusive); recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) at &#****;**** (~$*.***.**) per kg; and virgin polyester fibre at &#****;*** (~$*.**) per kg.

Surat market also noticed steadiness in different varieties and counts of speciality polyester and polyester spun yarn. A trader said that yarn prices were hovering at the level seen in the last week. But overall demand was not weak. Although, tight payment conditions also dampened market sentiment.
