Man reveals the side of WFH nobody talks about

Working from home can look simple from the outside. There is no office commute and the day can feel less structured. But the reality of remote work can also bring situations that are easy to overlook. An Instagram user named Divij recently shared his experience of WFH and spoke about what he finds difficult when working remotely. His post focused on how he spends time when his workload is low and the everyday interactions he misses while working away from colleagues.

When there is little work to finish

Divij said he does not have a problem with working from home when he has tasks to complete. His concern comes on days when there is not enough work to keep him occupied. He said he often turns to YouTube, Prime or Netflix during such periods. Although he likes having extra time, he feels uncomfortable when that time goes towards activities he considers unproductive.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available.ID@undefined Caption not available.“Work from home sounds amazing until I actually started doing it. Like, it’s great that I have so much time, so much freedom. I’m pretty committed to it, and I love it when I’m actually doing work. But the second I don’t have any work, I tend to watch YouTube, Prime, Netflix, or just waste my time. And that part feels a little unproductive and not right that I’m wasting time,” he said.

Missing the little office conversations

There is another part of his experience that has nothing to do with workload.Divij said he misses having people around for casual conversations during the day. He specifically mentioned random chats, chai breaks and moments of laughter that can happen between colleagues.“And another thing that nobody really talks about is how lonely it can get. Like no one to randomly talk to or some random conversations or a little chai break with someone, a little bit of laughing. And then I realize that work from home does offer a lot of freedom, but it comes with a fair share of cons with it.”

People in the comments relate

The post was shared with the caption, “Caveats work from home.”Several users responded to Divij’s observations. One user wrote, “WFH freedom comes with loneliness,” while another commented, “The chai breaks are what I miss most.”A third user said, “This is so relatable,” and another added, “WFH has its own struggles.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a post shared by an Instagram user.
