The 2026 edition of the Asian Games will be played from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi–Nagoya. More than 10,000 athletes from 46 nations will feature in this year’s edition of the Asian Games, and they are scheduled to participate in 469 events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines.
India have named a strong squad of more than 500 athletes for the Asian Games 2026, and there will be high hopes of medals from cricket, badminton, hockey, boxing, wrestling, shooting, kabaddi and weightlifting, among other events.
In the 2022 edition of the Asian Games, which was held in Hangzhou in September-October 2023, Indian athletes won more than 100 medals for the first time in the Asiad, and the athletes participating in this year’s event will aim to surpass that tally.
Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra will miss the Asian Games due to injury, but the likes of Manu Bhaker, Mirabai Chanu, Tejaswin Shankar and others will be among India’s top medal contenders.
