Cotton yarn market in south India continued to see bearish trend. Its prices weakened further in Mumbai amid selling pressure, poor payment conditions and cautious buying by traders and weavers. Tiruppur prices held steady after declining earlier in the week, though mills faced pressure from subdued export demand. In Gujarat, cotton prices fell by &#****;*,*** (~$**.**) per candy as traders weighed delayed new-crop arrivals against volatility in ICE cotton futures.
Cotton yarn prices further declined by &#****;*–* (~$*.**–*.**) per kg in Mumbai as selling pressure mounted. Cotton price correction in domestic and international markets led to decline. A trader from Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Profit-booking has led to a sharp correction as cotton prices have eased in both domestic and international markets. Payment conditions have deteriorated further, and buyers are unwilling to purchase at such high prices. Traders and weavers are therefore cautious about placing fresh orders.”
In Mumbai, ** carded yarns of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) and &#****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) per * kg (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices included ** combed warp at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, ** carded weft at &#****;*,***–*,*** (~$**.**–**.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, and **/** combed warp at &#****;***–*** (~$*.**–*.**) per kg, according to trade sources.
