Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt Opens: A Landmark Debut in Continental Europe, ETTravelWorld

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has opened Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt in Germany’s trade fair district, marking the debut of the Taj brand in continental Europe.The hotel was introduced by General Manager Albert Mayr, Spiridon Sarantopoulos, Senior Vice President, Operations Europe & USA, and Gaurav Pokhariyal, Chief Operating Officer – Full-Service Business. The opening event was attended by representatives from Frankfurt’s business, social, political and cultural communities.The property builds on the legacy of the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof, with IHCL combining its historic character with the Taj brand’s hospitality offering. The opening expands IHCL’s presence in Europe and establishes Frankfurt as the first continental European market for the Taj brand.Speaking at the opening, Albert Mayr said, “With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are reopening a property that has long been an icon of the hospitality landscape while reimagining it for the future. Great hotels do not thrive on their past alone; they thrive on how their future is shaped.”Spiridon Sarantopoulos said, “The combination of this hotel’s rich heritage and the international stature of the Taj brand provides a strong foundation for a successful future. We aim to offer our guests an authentic Taj experience while preserving the distinct character of the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof.”Gaurav Pokhariyal said the opening marks an important milestone in IHCL’s growth journey and that Frankfurt’s position as a European business and cultural hub makes it a gateway for introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe.Among the guests at the opening celebration were State Secretary Karin Müller, former dressage rider Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff, Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt, and advertising and television personalities Nina and Julia Meise.Nina Meise said, “We knew the Hessischer Hof from earlier years, and I am delighted by how successfully Taj has honored and evolved the grandeur of this historic property.”Julia Meise added, “That includes the reopening of Jimmy’s Bar. We are confident that the hotel will once again become one of Frankfurt’s most sought-after addresses.”The opening event featured specialities from the hotel’s signature restaurant, Bombay Brasserie, along with an oyster bar and caviar tasting experience.Bombay Brasserie at Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt recently received recognition in Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027, debuting at No. 1 in the Indian Cuisine category. The restaurant was also listed among “Newcomers of the Year” in the Asian Fine Dining category, while Jimmy’s Bar featured in the Classic Bars category.The Frankfurt opening adds to IHCL’s international portfolio and marks a new phase in the company’s expansion across the European hospitality market.
