Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani has congratulated Indian athletes for their stellar show at the 2026 Asian Games, which were held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

India finished fourth in the medal standings with 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals. India won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s events in kabaddi, cricket and field hockey. The country also won three gold medals in boxing, two in wrestling, three in shooting, one in athletics and five in archery.

Following the conclusion of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Nita Ambani congratulated Team India, stating, “Heartiest congratulations to our Indian contingent at the Asian Games 2026 for giving us so many moments of joy and pride. It has been especially wonderful to see our women athletes lead India’s medal success, inspire young girls, and bring glory to the nation.”

“I am also proud of our Reliance Foundation athletes whose achievements reaffirm our belief in young talent and strengthen our commitment to support the future of Indian sport. To every athlete who wore the India colours with pride – thank you and well done,” she added.

With their impressive performances at the Asian Games 2026, several Indian athletes also secured quotas for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Through its programmes and partnerships, the Reliance Foundation contributed to 29 of India’s medals.

A total of 48 athletes supported by the Foundation represented India at the Asian Games, with the Foundation also serving as a proud sponsor of Team India.

India defeated Pakistan in men’s cricket final

India faced Pakistan in the final of the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday and secured a 19-run win in Nisshin. The victory over the Sahibzada Farhan-led side helped India successfully defend their gold medal.

India had also won the gold medal in the women’s cricket competition on September 22 after securing a one-sided win over Sri Lanka in the final.

After India’s win in men’s cricket on Saturday, the Indian men’s hockey team defeated Malaysia 5-1 in the final to win the gold medal and secure direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

On Friday, the Indian women’s hockey team had also confirmed their qualification for the LA Olympics 2028 by securing a 1-0 win over China in the gold medal match.
