Mannat, the residence of Shah Rukh Khan, is among the most recognisable celebrity residences in Mumbai. But the story behind the superstar acquiring the iconic sea-facing bungalow has remained a subject of interest for fans. In an upcoming episode of India Ke Top 1%, Anil Kapoor revisits that chapter of Shah Rukh’s journey, revealing that he had known about his friend’s dream of owning a grand bungalow overlooking the sea and had even shot at the same property years before it became the superstar’s home.

The conversation takes place during an interaction with a contestant on the Star Plus quiz show, hosted by Anil Kapoor. When he asks her what she would do if she won Rs.1 crore, she expresses her wish to buy a sea-facing home in Mumbai, similar to Mannat. Her response prompts Anil to recall Shah Rukh’s aspiration and how he eventually turned it into reality.
Before speaking about Mannat, Anil also shares memories of his first meeting with Shah Rukh and how their friendship developed over the years. Recalling the encounter, he said, “Shah Rukh sahab and I have been very close friends for many years. He had come to meet me while I was shooting for Benaam Badshah. When I saw him and looked into his eyes, I felt that he would become a very big star. That is where our relationship began, and over time, our friendship grew.”
Anil then offered an interesting detail about Shah Rukh’s life before he acquired Mannat. The actor revealed that the superstar had earlier lived in a flat on Carter Road and would speak about his dream of owning a spacious home by the sea. Anil also recalled his own professional connection to the property, having filmed scenes for Tezaab there before it became Shah Rukh’s residence.
Sharing the memory, he added, “We used to meet on Carter Road, where he had a flat. He, too, dreamt of owning a grand, sea-facing bungalow, and he fulfilled that dream. I remember him buying Mannat right before my eyes. I had also shot for Tezaab at that property, before it became his home.”
The upcoming episode offers a glimpse into Anil’s personal memories of his industry friendships, while connecting a contestant’s aspirations with Shah Rukh’s journey of fulfilling one of his own dreams. India Ke Top 1% airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
