Chaos unfolded at an NTA examination centre in Jaipur during the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) on Saturday after a power failure disrupted the first shift of the examination.

The outage affected candidates at the centre, with 49 students unable to complete their examination. The National Testing Agency has now scheduled a re-examination for the affected candidates on September 1 in Jaipur.

Power failure disrupts exam

The power went out at around 10:20 AM at Shri Satya Sai PG College in Jaipur, where candidates were appearing for the examination. A generator was switched on later, but the disruption had already affected the conduct of the first shift.

The incident left several candidates unable to complete their examination.

Candidates raise cheating allegations

Although additional time was provided to candidates, some students alleged that the question paper had already been discussed among candidates during the period of the power outage.

The candidates claimed that giving them additional time did not address the issue and alleged that the disruption had effectively resulted in cheating.

They subsequently demanded that the first shift of the examination be cancelled and conducted again.

NTA confirms re-examination for 49 candidates

The National Testing Agency said AIAPGET was conducted for 36,979 registered candidates in Shift-I on August 22, with 35,837 candidates appearing at 200 centres across the country. The examination was completed for 35,788 candidates.

According to the NTA, 192 candidates appeared at the Shri Satya Sai PG College Centre in Jaipur, of whom 49 could not complete the examination due to the power failure. The agency attributed the power failure to M/S Eduquity Career Technologies Private Limited, the examination conducting agency.

The NTA expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates and announced that their re-examination will be held on September 1 at 10:00 AM.

The re-examination will take place at Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur. The NTA said further details will be provided through revised admit cards issued to the affected candidates.
