India swept all medals in yet another Javelin event on Friday (October 23), with Sumit Antil winning gold, Mahendra Gurjar winning silver, and Sandip Sanjay Sargar taking bronze in the F42-44/61-64 combined.

Sumit (T64) came first with a throw of 72.46m, scoring 1,112 points, while Gurjar (T42) and Sanjay Sargar (T44) both achieved new Games Records of 59.03m and 64.48m in their categories, scoring 1,066 and 1,006 points, respectively.

The 28-year-old Antil, a two-time Paralympic champion and world record holder, could not surpass his personal best of 74.82m set in May but dominated the F64 competition.

Antil had won gold at the 2023 Asian Para Games with a then-world-record throw of 73.29m. Mahendra Gurjar claimed silver with 59.03m, while Sandip Sanjay Sargar took bronze with 64.48m. Gurjar finished ahead of Sargar on RAZA points, which determine rankings in combined-class events.

The competition combined athletes from the F42, F44, F62 and F64 classifications to ensure a larger field. F42 and F44 athletes compete without lower-limb prostheses, while those in F62 and F64 throw standing up using prosthetic devices.

Antil, a promising wrestler before losing his left leg in an accident, he discovered para-sports through a fellow athlete and went on to establish himself on the international stage. He has won three consecutive World Para Athletics Championship titles from 2023 to 2025.

A national champion and Asian record holder in the F42 javelin category, Gurjar has emerged as one of India’s leading para-athletes. In May 2025, Gurjar set a world record in F42 javelin throw with an effort of 61.17m at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland.  He also won gold in the T42 long jump at the event.

Sandip Sanjay Sargar, from Sangli district in Maharashtra, overcame a severe childhood leg injury to pursue a career in para-athletics. After completing a BSc in Chemistry, he turned to javelin throw in 2016. With limited training opportunities in his hometown, Sargar moved to Pune to access better facilities and worked as a delivery executive while pursuing his sporting ambitions.

Despite setbacks, including an ankle injury that required surgery in 2023, he returned to competition and won gold at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships.
