Bangladesh off-spinner Aliss Al Islam has been reported for a suspect bowling action following his team’s ODI tri-series match against Afghanistan in Sharjah. The 29-year-old, who made his ODI debut in the match on Wednesday, conceded 47 runs in 8.3 overs as Bangladesh suffered a defeat against Afghanistan. The match officials raised concerns over the legality of his bowling action in their report, following which Aliss will undergo an independent assessment at an ICC-accredited testing centre in accordance with the ICC Illegal Bowling Action Regulations.

“After their loss against Afghanistan, the match officials’ report had cited concerns about the legality of Aliss’ bowling action,” the ICC said in a statement.

Bowlers are permitted 15 degrees of elbow extension while delivering the ball, and he is allowed to continue bowling in matches until the results of his test are known.

Aliss had received his maiden T20I cap earlier this month during Bangladesh’s Asian Games match against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh have lost both their matches in the tri-series, going down to Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will now face each other in the final on October 23.
