Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff could be in line for his professional football debut after reportedly registering with Mumbay FC for the prestigious Durand Cup.

Tiger Shroff is reportedly set to make his debut in the Durand Cup after being registered as part of the Mumbay FC squad for the ongoing 135th edition of the tournament.
The 36-year-old Bollywood actor has been training regularly with the team and could feature in Mumbay FC’s final group-stage fixture, according to sources. The club, which is owned by entrepreneur Ali Ahmed, is scheduled to travel to Shillong on July 30 for its group-stage matches.
“Tiger has registered with the team and is most likely to make an appearance in the final group-stage match. He has been training regularly with the squad. Mumbay FC will travel to Shillong on July 30 for their group-stage fixtures,” a RevSportz report quoted a source as saying.
Shroff inaugurated the club in 2024 and is involved with it as a brand ambassador.
Mumbay FC have enjoyed a rapid rise in the last couple of years. The club won the inaugural Maharashtra State Club League Championship before finishing third in I-League 3 last season, a result that earned them a place in the Durand Cup for the first time.
Drawn in Group E, Mumbay FC will face Shillong Lajong FC, Nongkseh Sports & Cultural Club and Langsning FC, with all their group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Shillong.
If he takes the field, Shroff will become one of the latest Bollywood figures to make a mark in Indian football. John Abraham’s NorthEast United FC won the previous two editions of the Durand Cup.
Durand Cup history
The Durand Cup is the oldest football tournament in Asia and the third oldest in the world. It was started in 1888 at Shimla by Sir Mortimer Durand. Initially a recreation event for British troops stationed in India, it soon opened to civilian teams and became a prestigious national competition.
Today, it features top clubs from the Indian Super League alongside armed forces teams. The current format begins with a round-robin group stage where participating teams are divided into multiple pools. The top performers from these groups then advance to a knockout stage that ends with the final.
