Castore, the fast-expanding sports brand, is reportedly considering a sale after receiving several unsolicited approaches, according to a report.

The company, which is backed by Sir Andy Murray, is believed to have received take over approaches from industry peers and Sky News said that the 10 year-old business has appointed an investment bank to look at the interest from potential bidders. Castore hasn’t commented on the story.
A formal sale process hasn’t yet begun but these things can move fast when the knowledge that the founders may be interested in a sale is out there.
It’s unknown who the potential buyers are but the report said peers from China and other parts of the world are on the list.
That said, there’s no guarantee it will happen nor that the entire company will be solved. It could mean that a minority stake might be on the table or that the company considers the rest of its strategic options.
These exploratory talks certainly underline just how big a success the business has become and how what was once a challenger brand is now a major player in the global sportswear sector.
The Beahons, who started out as sportsmen themselves before founding the business, are among the most successful young entrepreneurs in the UK.
As well as their own brand and chain of stores, they also have deals with multiple national sports bodies and individual teams to supply kits across very many different sports from rugby to football, cricket and motor racing.
It’s unclear exactly what the company is worth today but it was valued at almost a billion pounds when it raised funding back in 2023. The current value is likely to be much higher.
