The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a notice regarding the second CBSE Class 10 Board Examination 2026, highlighting important details about the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) through its official website, cbse.gov.in. As per the notice, the LOC submission process for the second Class 10 board exam will be conducted in 3 distinct phases.

CBSE Class 10 LOC Submission Phases

In Phase 1, schools will only enter the LOC details, and no fee will be charged at this stage. This phase is intended solely to help CBSE estimate how many students are likely to appear in the second Board Examination, enabling the Board to plan necessary arrangements.

In Phases 2 and 3, students will have the opportunity to submit, modify, remove, or add their candidature or subjects. During these phases, the required examination fee must be paid to finalise the LOC. The entire process will be carried out through the schools where the students originally appeared for the main Board examination.

What Happens if You Decide Not To Take Second Exam?

If a student, after submitting the LOC and paying the examination fee, decides not to take the second board exam, their final result will be prepared and declared on the basis of their performance in the main examination. “Even after submission of LOC and payment of examination fee, if any student decided not to appear in the Second Board Examination, performance in the main examinations will be used for declaration of result,” states the official notice.

The Board has also noticed that some schools have been asking students to pay three months’ tuition fees at the time of LOC submission for the second Board Examination. This practice goes against CBSE rules and must be discontinued immediately. In this context, CBSE has issued clear instructions to all schools:

1. Schools must not collect any additional or unauthorised fees from students in connection with LOC submission.

2. The only fee that schools are permitted to charge is the examination fee specified in the LOC circular.

3. Schools must strictly follow CBSE rules and immediately stop any practices that violate these regulations. Any breach of these directions will be viewed seriously by the Board, it stated.
