CBSE Class 12 Results 2026: Scorecards soon on DigiLocker and official website.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the Class 12 results 2026 anytime soon. Once declared, students will be able to check their scorecards by visiting the official websites cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, or digilocker.gov.in. At that time, students and their parents will be able to download the online marksheets. However, students must note that these documents are provisional in nature and they will have to visit their respective schools later to collect the official documents.
CBSE does not only issue the marksheet to students; several other key documents are also distributed along with the Class 12 results. These documents serve as essential legal proof of academic qualification and are required for pursuing higher education in India and abroad. Earlier, they were provided only in printed form and sent to students who passed the Class 12 board exams.
In recent years, CBSE has updated the list of documents it issues and introduced major changes in line with the legal recognition of digital documents. Here is a complete list of documents issued by CBSE:
CBSE Class 12 Mark Sheet: All students who pass the Class 12 board examination receive both a printed and a digital mark sheet. The physical mark sheet is sent to schools a few days after the results are announced. The digital mark sheet is available immediately at the time of the result declaration and can be downloaded from the student’s DigiLocker account. It contains the marks and grades of the students in each subject.
CBSE Passing Certificate: Along with the mark sheet, CBSE also provides a passing certificate. Also known as the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) certificate, it is an official document required for admission to higher education institutions, as well as for various career options and government recruitment. It does not show marks; it only confirms that the student has ‘passed’ the examination. Like the mark sheet, the passing certificate is issued in both physical and digital formats. The digital copy can be downloaded from DigiLocker using the login details provided by the board.
Migration Certificate: A migration certificate is essential for students who are moving to another state or seeking admission to state universities after studying under the central board. In 2024, CBSE announced that it would stop issuing physical migration certificates from the 2025 results onwards. From that year, only a digital migration certificate will be available through the student’s DigiLocker account. The board has confirmed that this digital certificate is valid and acceptable. However, if a university specifically requires a physical migration certificate, CBSE allows students to apply for a printed copy through the board’s online portal. This facility is chargeable, and the certificate is issued after payment of the prescribed fee.
Additional Certificates from Schools
In addition to the documents issued by CBSE, schools also issue Character Certificates and provisional certificates to their enrolled students. However, as official digital certificates are now available immediately after the declaration of results, most schools no longer provide provisional mark sheets and certificates.
Students can download their digital mark sheet and, if required, have it stamped by the school principal for university admission. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities and colleges to accept digital mark sheets and passing certificates. Institutions are not allowed to refuse admission to students merely because they possess only the digital copies issued through DigiLocker.
