The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will commence the first phase of the List of Candidates (LOC) submission for class 10 students aiming to take the second board exam in 2026. On Wednesday, the board issued a circular regarding the second Class 10 exam scheduled for May 2026, which allows students to enhance their performance in up to three subjects. The circular specifies the procedures and timelines for submitting the List of Candidates (LOC). Students dissatisfied with their marks from the February-March exams can retake up to three subjects in the second board exam in May 2026.

CBSE Class 10 Second Exam 2026 Schedule

LOC submission follows a three-phase schedule:

First Phase: March 18, 2026, to March 31, 2026

Second Phase: 5 days from the next day of the main exam result declaration

Third Stage (with late fee): 7th day to 2 days after result declaration

The submission portal remains open until 11:59 pm on the final day, with no extensions.

Eligibility Criteria For 2nd Board Exam:

– Students must have taken the main exam.

– They must have appeared in at least three subjects.

– Passed students can improve in up to three subjects.

– Compartment students can also participate.

– Students who failed in three or more subjects must reappear in the main exam next February.

Subject changes are not permitted for the second board exam, apart from limited exemptions in Math as per policy. No changes to student data or internal assessments are allowed.

How To Complete LOC Submission

Schools will be required to submit the LOC for all interested students. To ascertain the number of students who wish to appear in these examinations and to determine the subjects they intend to take, CBSE has decided to schedule the submission of LOC in a way that ensures all necessary information is available in advance, the Board stated in its official press release. This will facilitate comprehensive preparations for the examination, it added.

CBSE 10th Examination Fees:

For students in India, the fee is Rs 300 per subject, amounting to Rs 900 for three subjects. In Nepal, the fee is Rs 1100 per subject, while for other countries, it is Rs 2200 per subject. A late fee of Rs 2,000 applies, and the payment is accepted online only.
