The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) held its 40th convocation ceremony on March 19 wherein 807 students were conferred degrees. A notable highlight was the revival of the 1997 Reshma Sareen Excellence Award for Best Girl Student, awarded to Ms. J. Soundarya and Ms. Vanshita Goenka, each receiving Rs. 1,00,000.

Graduates included:

– Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA) – 504 students

– Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management (MBA-ABM) – 55 students

– Doctoral Programme in Management (Ph.D.) – 18 students

– Executive Fellow Programme in Management (Ph.D.) – 6 students

– Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management (MBA-SM) – 46 students

– International Programme in Management for Executives – 114 students

– Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executives – 64 students

Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Limited, was the Chief Guest and delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of adaptability, resilience, and large-scale execution in a changing world. He spoke about the transformative impact of AI on industries and emphasised the significance of building context before action, prioritising resilience, and continuous skilling. He urged graduates to strengthen systems and institutions for a capable and inclusive future.

The event was attended by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairperson, Board of Governors, and Prof. M.P. Gupta, Director of IIM Lucknow.

N. Chandrasekaran stressed the need for managers to leverage technology effectively within their specific contexts and to embrace continuous learning. He expressed confidence in the graduates’ abilities to create meaningful impacts across sectors.

While Prof. M.P. Gupta presented the Director’s report, noting the significant achievements of the Institute, including the prestigious Triple Crown accreditation. He highlighted the launch of four new programmes, aiming to make management education more inclusive and aligned with evolving business needs. He wished the graduating class a bright future and hoped they would uphold the Institute’s values while contributing to industry and society.
