India–NZ FTA opens zero-duty textile corridor, secures wool supply

The agreement was signed by India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay, ending a **-year negotiation cycle that had repeatedly faltered over dairy access. India retained its protection on dairy, while securing full access for labour-intensive exports like textiles.

All Indian textile categories including garments, home textiles, and carpets will now enter New Zealand duty-free. Previously, these products faced tariffs of up to ** per cent, limiting India’s competitiveness.
